Welcome!

My name is Ernesto Hernandez Olmos, and I am passionate about resurrecting ancient forms of art that have been passed down through oral and ceremonial traditions. My life’s purpose is to keep sacred arts thriving, for they connect us to our Indigenous roots and remind us to live with full honor as we walk on the path set out by our ancestors.

As a life-long traditional artist, I have been active in Northern California’s community arts scene since 1998 and have developed a wide range of programs, curriculum, presentations, art exhibits, and musical performances based in traditions of Native Mexico.

My art is culturally shared and exchanged through ceremonies, rituals, paintings, sculpture, ancient instruments, sound healing, music, dance, storytelling, and wisdom teachings about the ancient calendar system of Meso-America influenced by the Olmec, Zapotec, Toltec, Maya, and Mexican traditions (feel free to reach out to me about any of these offerings).

My goal is to continue to bring healing and transformative visual art and musical performances to Indigenous peoples, immigrants, and the community at large, especially children. I have worked extensively in California and traveled all over the world performing music ceremonies, teaching traditional arts workshops, creating murals, and exhibiting art. On any given week, I am performing, sharing art, leading workshops about traditional Aztec culture at multicultural centers for arts and culture, museums and galleries, alcohol prevention centers for youth and families, mental health clinics, schools, universities, and festivals.

Thank you for your interest in my art and for supporting me in living out my life’s purpose: sharing the traditional, healing wisdom of my ancestors’ arts and culture with as many people as possible.

Respectfully,

Ernesto Hernandez Olmos
